I am interested in learning about Fusion energy because, life has not found out how to create fusion and I am interested in learning about it.
What is Fusion?
Fusion is an energy that powers the sun and stars. In order to make it a useful energy source, it needs 2 types of hydrogen; deuterium and tritium. The 2 types of fuel must be heated to temperatures to over 100 million degrees Celsius.
How does Fusion work?
When temperatures reach to 100 million degrees Celsius, plasma is formed. This incredibly hot plasma is also extremely thin and fragile, a million times less dense than air. Eg: 4 Protons mix together, they make 2 protons and 2 Heliums, and 1 Neutron all to power fusion
How Fusion Works Article
I learned in this article how fusion works and saw an animation of how fusion reacts.
What does Fusion/Plasma look like?
Fusion looks like a Metal Circular round object, with rings around it. Inside the round circular tube, there is plasma. In the middle of the tube, there is a metal spring. This is only what it looks like on earth, of course it would look much different in the sun. Fusion is circular because if it wasn't, it wouldn't be an infinite source of energy. The circular shape means the plasma is continuously spinning in a circle making energy.

What is ITER? What does it stand for?
ITER stands for International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor. ITER is the worlds largest magnetic plasma physics experiment. If this experiment works out, we will find out how exactly to create fusion energy. The experiment is trying to build fusion right now! it is really big and is shaped like a circle. Its located in the South of France.
Here's an article about ITER
My progress in this project
So far, I've learned so much about fusion and ITER. I learned that there was 4 types of matter, Solids, Liquids, Gases and Plasma. I learned how fusion reacts, and what it looks like. I learned about ITER and how close we are to finding out fusion energy. I learned where ITER is located and also, what ITER looks like. I am really enjoying learning in this project.
